Prevent Children from Going Missing and Support Their Safe Return to Families

We strive to prevent children from going missing and help missing children to return home promptly.

Services for Families of Missing Children Support for Finding Missing Children

  • Cooperate with the Korea Institute of Science and Technology to utilize an age progression technology for missing children
  • Provide materials needed to find missing children, such as leaflets and banners
  • Provide GPS trackers to prevent missing people with disabilities
  • Support searching for missing children in cooperation with the Korean National Police Agency

Support for Families of Missing Children

  • Offer counselling services to ease emotional distress
  • Provide financial support including medical expenses

Genetic Identification and Management of Missing Children

  • Encode genetic samples received from police stations to request a DNA test to the National Forensic Service
  • Manage a genetic database

Reunion Service

  • Provide services for reunion of families of missing children

Reporting System for Missing Children

  • Report cases of missing children to a local police station

Education and Promotion

  • Educate on prevention of child from going missing 
  • Make and disseminate manual for education to prevent going missing
  • Offer in-home education on preventing child abductions for children, youth, teachers, and parents

Campaign to Prevent Children From Going Missing

  • Organize a variety of advertisements and campaigns to attract public attention on missing children with an aim to prevent social issues resulting from children from going missing
  • Disseminate posters on prevention of children from going missing

Campaign to Promote Finding Missing Children

  • Produce and disseminate posters containing information of missing children and registration of genetic information
  • Transmit advertisements based on the results of developed contents on finding missing children
  • Support organizations or businesses which participate in posting pictures of missing children
  • Operate both online and offline channels for advertisements

Missing Children’s Day and Missing Children’s Week

  • Korea has been celebrating the International Missing Children’s Day (May 25) since 2007 to be a part of global efforts to promote public awareness on missing children and ask for continuous support and attention.
